JEZ
FOUNDER & LEAD TEACHER

Jez is the founder of Second Sight. He has studied shamanism intensively for twenty five years with various teachers, from both contemporary shamanism and indigenous elders across the globe.

He has a worked full time as a shamanic healer and teacher for nearly twenty years, treating thousands of people from the U.K and across Europe. He works closely with the indigenous Wixarika (Huichol) nation of north central Mexico, as a cultural liaison for their work in the U.K. and also through a ten-year commitment to apprentice with the sacred sites and teachers of their land. He is one of the founding directors of the Maye Takuta Foundation which is dedicated to the support and preservation of indigenous communities worldwide.

His own initiation involved a fifteen-year journey through various mental illnesses, physical convulsions and psychotic breaks before finding a cure in shamanism. His passion is restoring connections to the ancestral lineages and land that has lost its traditions.

His work has featured all across the national press and on ITV television and BBC radio. He is the author of The Wisdom of Mental Illness- Shamanism, Mental Health & the Renewal of World and The Heart of Life- Shamanic Initiation & Healing in the Modern World.

DAVE
PRIMARY ASSISTANT

Dave began his shamanic journey around 30 years ago, working as an apprentice to the medicine women Arwyn Larkin of Navajo/Celtic descent, in Britain and the U.S. Here, he woeked closely with the medicine wheel teachings, the art of dreaming and ceremonial work, while travelling extensively throughout the wild places of the U.S, Canada and Mexico.

He also worked with Victor Sanchez and AVP for four years, being guided into the ancient Toltec knowledge of the Art of living purposely through elemental initiations and practices.

Dave completed the three year training with Jez and Second Sight in 2017, and then went on to assist with the training for a further three years before heading North, to live in the mountains of Cumbria. With this move, he visualised Sylvaticus, and guides week long intensive elemental initiations up within the Lake District.

For over 20 years, Dave has been working closely with the medicine of the Yew Tree, and it’s healing properties. He leads groups, and individuals, into the largest Yew forest in Europe, Kingley Vale. This work deepens one’s connection, through dreaming and ceremony, to the spirit of the Yew, the great facilitator of dreams and visions, bringing much balance into ones life to go forward in a sacred manner. He also offers one to one healings in a unique way and setting, among the Yews.

Dave’s passion is in guiding people to reawaken to the Earths dream, through seeking, following and interpret omens and symbolism within the natural landscape, and within the landscape of dreams.

MAYA
ASSISTANT

Maya is a shamanic facilitator, interdisciplinary artist and researcher. She supports and guides initiates through the initiation and training process in the woods.

She has studied Shamanism for 10 years, undergoing her shamanic training in the traditional model of apprenticeship and experience beginning with assisting on the practitioner training since 2016 before completing the training herself in 2020. Over the last 10 years she has worked with various Amerindian indigenous shamanic cultures including the Mazatec, Aztec and Shipibo of Mexico and Peru, working especially closely with the Wixarika tribe of northern Mexico.

Her background is in psychedelic parapsychology research with Greenwich University, specialising in exceptional human experience and entity encounters on psychedelics, and as an artist. She publicly lectures on the subjects of psychedelics and shamanism, and produces art on the subjects informed by her research and experience, including films, performances, writing and immersive worlds. She has performed and exhibited internationally including at the Tate Britain and Breaking Convention and is the creator and host of Psychedelicacies, an online lecture series.

Walking between the worlds of art, psychedelic science and shamanism she works to bridge them and uses each as investigatory tools to inform and articulate each other as tools for healing the self, society and the environment.

Maya is the daughter of Leah, the Co-founding teacher and shamanic practitioner of Second Sight, who passed in 2019. She honours her mother’s legacy by continuing the ancestral work, keeping Leah’s spirit alive in the very veins and roots of the work in the woods.

Tina
ASSISTANT

Tina’s path as a healer began in 2012 with her own initiation and training at Second Sight Healing School, where she completed the three-year Shamanic Practitioner training. Since then, she has continued to walk this path with deep reverence and now supports the school as a teacher’s assistant. Alongside her shamanic practice, Tina is also a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, with over 14 years of experience in therapeutic work.

Training in both psychotherapy and shamanism concurrently has shaped Tina’s unique approach, one that bridges modern psychological understanding with the ancient wisdom of the spirits, land, and ceremony. Her work is intuitive and co-created between herself, people and guiding spirits, grounded in Earth medicine. A core part of her practice includes working with the Medicine Wheel, or Wheel of Life, offering a framework for individuals to find harmony, clarity, and balance within their own walk of life.

Tina’s practice is further enriched by time spent in Mexico with Toltec teachings, as well as shamanic guidance received in Wales. In recent years, her path has become closely aligned with the Yew Tree medicine in Sussex, deepening her relationship with the teachings of life, death, rebirth, and conscious dreaming. She brings all of this into her work with children, teenagers, and adults — supporting the return of fragmented parts, the release of limiting beliefs, and the restoration of personal power and wholeness. Through this holistic approach, her joy is to support others in living a life led from the heart. Offering 1:1 healing

HANNA
OPERATIONS MANAGER

I’m Hanna Kubbutat-Byrne, a socially engaged artist, mentor learning coach and shamanic practitioner living on the Cornish coast with my gorgeous family.

I completed my practitioner training with Second Sight Healing in 2024, where I developed a deep respect for working in partnership with spirit, the land and our ancestors. I manage all-things-admin here Second Sight Healing.

Alongside my healing practice, I work creatively with communities across the UK, exploring belonging, memory, ritual and our relationship with the natural world. I am currently collaborating on Sea for Yourself, a major public art commission in Plymouth & Cornwall exploring people’s relationships with the sea through storytelling, shared authorship and living archives.

Before shamanism, I worked across many sectors including prisons, local authorities, community organisations, theatres and in corporate leadership and the social impact space, alongside an artistic and writing practice.
